A Pinstripe Look with a Twist

I’ve had a love for pinstripes for as long as I can remember. My favorite is usually when they’re on tailored 3-piece suits, like in the roaring 20’s when the mens suiting was crisp and so well put-together. Admittedly, this isn’t quite a suite, but this outfit is an exception. I found this look at Zara in their FW23 collection and knew I had to have it solely on the little details.

Let’s start with the most obvious piece - the top. They have it listed as a sweatshirt on their website, but to me it’s more of a shirt with vented sleeves that sort of mimic a cape. The sleeves have a khaki trench coat feel being that they’re slightly structured and the waist has a corset detail with boning all around. Although it isn’t snug on the waist, I can imagine it having the perfect fitted look if you’re able to size down. So to get the “fitted” look I wanted for myself, I ended up tucking it into my trousers and belting it to cinch the waist to create an hourglass shape.

These trousers I can easily see in my wardrobe until they just aren’t wearable anymore. I’ve already worn them multiple times since I purchased them because they’re just soooo good! From the wide leg, to the patch pockets with piping and the flowing straps, it just gives that cool-girl vibe that makes me feel like a modern-day Peaky Blinder. So to dive deeper into that aesthetic, I styled it with suede leather gloves (major thrifting score!) ,black Chanel glasses, and a limited edition Strathberry bag with gold foil details. I most definitely had the Red Right Hand song playing in my airpods while I walked to my showroom visit feeling FULLY like Polly Gray.

It wasn’t until I turned 30 that I truly believed that no look was complete without a fragrance. My collection may not be the biggest, but each and every scent is something I love. So I have just enough to fit different moods and seasons. This look is very bossy and chic, so I wore the new YSL perfume - Libre Absolu Platine, which is a warm floral scent with key notes of White Lavender, Orange Blossom, and Diva Lavender. When I spray it, it almost instantly gives that feeling of sensuality that’s bold and free.

Gold accessories are a must and play into that added warmth I was going for. My earrings are Alexis Bittar, these are so stunning to look at from the crystals to the crinkled gold effect. My necklace is Zara, as well, but several seasons old. Nonetheless, I get just as many compliments on this fish choker. I’ve always been attracted to the oddities of accessories, I tend to prefer more unique items that most people may not see as practical.
